CONGRATULATIONS to Jordan Porter on being chosen as December’s Athlete of the Month at Sanford POWER in Bismarck!
Jordan is a freshman at Bismarck State College where he is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is an alumni of St. Mary’s Central High School, where he participated in football and baseball. Jordan has been training athletic development at POWER and skill development through the Ben Berg Baseball Academy for the last few years and says his favorite thing about Sanford Power is the environment. “It’s always welcoming and energetic,” he said.
More recently, Jordan has been consistently training four times a week for the last 9 weeks and his hard work, commitment and discipline have spoken for themselves in terms of results. All within the last two months he’s gained 15 pounds of lean body mass and his back squat has increased 40 pounds. On the field, his exit velocity has improved 4 mph and his max throwing velocity has improved 6 mph.
Whether it’s doing a 360⁰ on a surfboard, hunting or fishing, when he’s not training he is participating in various outdoor recreational activities. Jordan was the recipient of the 2020-2021 Jeff Burgress Memorial Scholarship, where students were selected on the premise of respect for others, honesty, dependability and a plan to pursue an education in a science-related field.
