Melissa A. Moyer 


Melissa Moyer serves as the Director of POWER Sports Physical Therapy for the Sanford enterprise. She is Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy and specializes in the rehabilitation and biomechanical assessment of running related injuries. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University, followed by earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. During her time at St. Ambrose University, Melissa extended her clinical expertise in athletic training as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Football and Women’s Volleyball teams. Melissa then completed an orthopedic residency program affiliated with St. Ambrose University and Rock Valley Physical Therapy. Currently, Melissa is working towards her Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Health Services from the University of South Dakota. Melissa lives an active lifestyle that is focused on family, friends and community.

Brett Fischer

Fischer_Brett_WEB160x200Brett serves as the Manager of POWER Physical Therapy at the Sanford Fieldhouse. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s in Athletic Training in 2007, where he also played baseball for the Jackrabbits. In addition, he graduated from The University of South Dakota in 2010 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He has a special interest in the treatment and prevention of injuries in overhead athletes. He has presented locally on topics including ACL rehabilitation, shoulder rehabilitation, and injury prevention for the overhead athlete. He gained his board certification in sports physical therapy in 2014 and has been a team physical therapist for South Dakota State University since 2017. Brett is also certified in dry needling since 2018. Brett works with a variety of athletes but tends to see many with ACL and shoulder injuries. He is passionate about helping patients return to their active lifestyle. Brett also enjoys spending time with his wife, 4 children and 2 dogs, going to various sporting activities, hunting, or fishing.

Dale Schlimgen

Schlimgen_Dale_WEB160x200Dale graduated from South Dakota State University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. He went on to get a Masters in Physical Therapy from the Mayo Clinic in 1997. He has over 18 years of experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy, the last 5 years with Sanford POWER physical therapy in Sioux Falls, SD. He became an orthopedic certified specialist in 2008 and sports certified specialist in 2012, both through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He also spends considerable time working with professional students, serving as a certified clinical instructor for physical therapists and athletic training students since 1998. He has presented at various professional conferences including the Sanford Sports Medicine Symposium. His professional interests includes the evaluation and treatment of knee, shoulder, and spine in orthopedic and sport related patients. He has been a certified ASTYM provider since 2013.

Jenny Dalland

Jenny earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Exercise Science from Minnesota State University, Moorhead in 2006. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from the College of St. Scholastica in 2007. Jenny as several years of experience working with athletes of all ages. She enjoys working specifically with runners and is responsible for our performance based running evaluations. She is also responsible for our soft tissue and recovery services. Jenny also provides technology support for the physical therapists with our return to play testing and insurance-based running and golf evaluations.

Matt Rollag

Dr. Rollag is a senior physical therapist for Sanford POWER Sports Therapy. Matt earned his Bachelors of Science degree in athletic training from South Dakota State University in 2011. He then went on to study at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine earning his clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. Matt became a board certified sports specialist in 2018 as he has a passion for working with athletes and the active population. He is a Level 3 Certified Golf Medical Provider through the Titleist Performance Institute and has a special interest in working with Golfers both from an injury prevention standpoint as well as performance. Matt has attended and presented at a variety of physical therapy related conferences and enjoys providing clinical education to students from across the nation. Outside of Sanford Health, Matt has been actively enlisted in the military as a member of the South Dakota Air National Guard for the past 13+ years.

Adam Moen

Moen_Adam_WEB160x200 (1) Adam graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Biology Degree in 2006. He then entered the USD Physical Therapy program and graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. He has been working for Sanford since 2010. During his time with Sanford, he has achieved a Certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS), 3D MAPS movement analysis, Rocktape Functional Movement Technique taping, and was certified in dry needling in 2020. He has also been certified as a Nike Golf Performance Specialist, level 3 golf medical provider through the Titleist Performance Institute, and Functional Golf Specialist through the Gray Institute. He enjoys seeing all types of patients, but has a special interest in rehabilitating shoulder and knee injuries. Outside of Sanford, He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and golfing.

Kyle Johnson

Kyle graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine in 2010. After graduation he continued on to get his Masters of Science degree at Southwest Minnesota State University, along with working with many of its sports teams. He leads the Return to Performance program, which focuses on returning patients to a healthy, active lifestyle while working closely with the entire orthopedic medicine team. He also has a passion for golf health and performance, and as member of the Sanford Golf Health and Performance team, he is TPI Level 1 and Functional Golf System certified.

Josie Stockland

Josie earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota in 2016. She continued on to complete a Sports Physical Therapy residency through Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to physical therapy school, Josie earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University in 2013, where she also ran track and cross country for the Jackrabbits. She became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy in 2018. Josie enjoys working with athletes of all ages and abilities and specializes in the treatment of runners and endurance athletes, including involvement with the Sanford Runner’s Clinic. Additionally, she has a special interest in treatment of dance and gymnastics injuries and pregnancy/postpartum care in the female athlete. Josie serves as a mentor within the Sanford/USD Physical Therapy Residency program and as a clinical instructor for physical therapy and athletic training students. In her free time, Josie enjoys running, being outside, and spending time with her husband, friends, and River (her Golden Retriever).

Brett Nowotny

Brett graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and earned his Exercise Physiologist certification. He then pursued a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from The College of Saint Scholastica. He sees a variety of orthopedic conditions and takes a special interest in returning tactical athletes (Fire, Police, Servicemen & women) back to their highest level of function. He also enjoys rehabbing patients coming back from knee surgeries to their active lifestyle. He has specialty certifications that include Personalized Blood Flow Restriction rehabilitation, Functional Dry Needling, and is an ASTYM provider. Brett is also a Certified Instructor for Owens Recovery Science and continues to teach across the United States. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Tyler Turbak

Tyler graduated from the University of South Dakota with his bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2013. He then continued at USD to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. Tyler treats a variety of orthopedic conditions, but takes special interest in treating and preventing ACL injuries and post-operative patients. Tyler became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2021 and has received certification in Personalized Blood Flow Restriction rehabilitation. Tyler frequently serves as a Clinical Instructor for PT students and is currently an adjunct professor for the University of South Dakota Physical Therapy Program. Outside of work, Tyler enjoys time on the lake with his wife and two sons, and is often outdoors at sporting events or pursuing wildlife.

Tim Ostby

Tim graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and Psychology, where he also played football and wrestled for the Norse. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2021. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a background in training athletes of all ages in both individual and team settings. In his free time, Tim enjoys staying physically active, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his girlfriend Karissa and their Siberian Husky, Zeus. Tim will treat a variety of patients and participate in various opportunities associated with Sanford POWER Sports Physical Therapy. Also during his residency, Tim will spend time at the University of South Dakota treating Division I athletes, conducting research, providing sports venue coverage, and teaching within the DPT curriculum.
