Sanford POWER Golf Academy to have major presence at PGA Tour Champions event

The PGA Tour Champions circuit will be in the Dakotas for the first time in the form of the Sanford International from Sept. 17-23 at Minnehaha Country Club. And the Sanford POWER Golf Academy will have a major presence.

From Wednesday through Sunday, the academy will be stationed in a large tent near the driving range. Spectators of all ages and abilities can meet with experts in various elements of the game, including golf skills, movement, sports science and nutrition and hydration. They’ll be able to take swings under the watchful eye of 3D cameras, try a putting drill while wearing a tool that measures mental focus and learn techniques for getting loose and reducing pain.

While in the golf academy tent, fans can sign up for a chance to win a free golf service package. They can also earn a free Titleist hat by posting on social media about the golf academy and showing that post to a staffer. (Quantities limited each day.)

And there will be a handful of special visitors throughout the week, including LPGA stars – and Sanford POWER athletes – Kim Kaufman, Amy Olson, Katelyn Dembaugh plus golf legends Nancy Lopez and Andy North.

On Saturday evening, golf academy staffers will assist with a free Wells Fargo Junior Clinic featuring all-time golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

Fox Sports North previewed the Sanford International in a 30-minute special that included an in-depth look at the golf academy. Click below to watch the show.
